Golf course fly-through videos for clubs in Wales

FLYTHRU makes cinematic fly-through videos and interactive hole-by-hole tours for Welsh golf clubs, embedded on the club website beside the tee-booking link. Every hole is flown from tee to green with a slow orbit of the green, built from Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, so there is no drone or site visit. Most clubs are live within a week.

What is a golf course flyover video for a club in Wales?

A golf course flyover video is a short aerial film that travels down a hole from the tee to the green. For a Welsh club it shows visitors the lie of the land: dune-framed links fairways on the coast, or holes that climb and fall across valley sides and upland ground, before they book.

FLYTHRU renders each hole as a smooth flight followed by a slow orbit of the green, so a golfer sees both the shot from the tee and the shape of the putting surface. The full set of holes becomes an interactive tour on the club's own website.

On hilly Welsh courses, elevation is hard to judge from a scorecard or a flat course plan. A fly-through makes the climbs, drops and blind approaches clear.

How much does a golf course fly-through cost in Wales?

Member-owned and community clubs in Wales can use the Community Fly-through at £29 a month with no setup fee. Proprietary, resort and tournament venues use the Commercial track, beginning with the Club plan at £995 setup and £99 a month. Prices are shown in pounds sterling.

Plans are monthly rolling with no exit fee, so a club can cancel at any time and still keeps its footage forever. Annual plans give two months free.

Community + New Website costs £195 setup and £59 a month. Club + Web Takeover costs £1,495 setup and £149 a month. Championship is priced on application, from £4,995 setup.

How long does filming a Welsh golf course take?

There is usually no filming at all. FLYTHRU builds holes from Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, so no one visits the course and members are not disturbed. Once a course is mapped, most Welsh clubs are live within a week. Only Championship plans include a day of drone capture at the course.

This matters in Wales, where coastal wind and changeable upland weather can make planning a drone day difficult. Working from 3D Tiles removes that uncertainty.

To go live, the club adds one line of script to its existing website. There is no rebuild and there are no plugins to install.

Do you need a drone permit to film a golf course in Wales?

Wales follows UK drone rules set by the Civil Aviation Authority. Operators of camera drones generally need a CAA Operator ID and pilots a Flyer ID from the online test. Commercial filming near people commonly needs an A2 Certificate of Competency or a Specific category authorisation. Most FLYTHRU plans use no drone.

The club, as landowner, must give permission for take-off and landing, and flight restriction zones apply around airports and airfields.

Clubs should check the current CAA guidance before any drone work is agreed. Because FLYTHRU builds most fly-throughs from 3D Tiles, the majority of clubs never need to deal with drone permissions.

How do clubs in Wales use fly-throughs to sell memberships and tee times?

Welsh clubs place the fly-through next to their tee-booking link so a visitor can see the course and book in one place. FLYTHRU links with BRS Golf and intelligentgolf, sending golfers through to the tee sheet. For membership, the tour gives prospective members a full look at the course they would join.

The Caddie answers visitor questions on the website, and a monthly results email tells the club how many times the course flew and which holes were watched most.

In the clubhouse, Clubhouse mode runs a 16:9 auto-cycling loop on the bar or foyer screen. The tee plaque QR programme puts a QR plaque on each tee, so a golfer can scan and watch the hole before playing it.

Does a fly-through help valley and upland courses in Wales?

It does. Valley and upland courses in Wales often have dramatic elevation changes, steep climbs between holes and long views that a scorecard cannot convey. A tee-to-green flight shows the height of a drop shot, the slope of a fairway and the setting, which is often a large part of the course's appeal.

Members of smaller valley clubs are often keen to show their course to a wider audience. The Community track is designed for member-owned clubs, with no setup fee on the Community Fly-through.

How can Welsh clubs attract visiting golfers from England?

Many visitors to Welsh courses travel across the border for a day, a weekend or a society trip. A hole-by-hole tour on the club website lets them compare courses from home and book a tee time with confidence. For groups, an organiser can share the tour with everyone before committing to a date.
