Golf course flyover videos for clubs across England

FLYTHRU produces cinematic flyover videos and interactive hole-by-hole tours for golf clubs in England, placed on the club's own website next to its tee-booking link. Holes are built from Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, so no drone or site visit is needed. Each flight runs from tee to green, then circles the green, and most clubs go live within a week.

What is a golf course flyover video, and why do English clubs use one?

A golf course flyover video is an aerial view of a hole that follows the line of play from the tee to the green. English clubs use one so that visitors and prospective members can understand a heathland carry, a tree-lined parkland dog-leg or a seaside green before they arrive, straight from the club website.

Each FLYTHRU hole is a smooth tee-to-green flight followed by a slow orbit of the green. Strung together, the holes form an interactive tour of the whole course that lives on the club's own site, not on a booking platform or social channel the club does not control.

For a club secretary, that means one clear answer to the question visitors ask most often: what is the course actually like?

How much does a golf course fly-through cost in England?

In England, member-owned and community clubs can choose the Community Fly-through at £29 a month with no setup fee. Proprietary, resort and tournament venues start on the Club plan at £995 setup and £99 a month. Prices on this page are shown in pounds sterling and plans are monthly rolling.

There is no exit fee and the club can cancel at any time, keeping its footage forever. Annual plans give two months free. Re-flights are included when the course changes significantly, and Club + Web Takeover and Championship include quarterly re-flights.

  • Community Fly-through: £29 a month, no setup fee
  • Community + New Website: £195 setup and £59 a month
  • Club: £995 setup and £99 a month
  • Club + Web Takeover: £1,495 setup and £149 a month
  • Championship: priced on application, from £4,995 setup

How long does filming take for a course in England?

For most English clubs there is no filming day. FLYTHRU builds each hole from Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, so play carries on as normal and nobody needs to visit. Once the course is mapped, most clubs are live within a week. A drone capture day at the course is only part of Championship plans.

The process runs in four steps: Map, Craft, Embed and Book. We map the course, craft each hole into a finished flight, and the club embeds it with one line of script on its existing website, with no rebuild and no plugins. Golfers then watch and click through to book.

Do you need a drone permit to film a golf course in England?

Drones in England fall under the UK Civil Aviation Authority. Camera drone operators generally register for an Operator ID, pilots pass the CAA online test for a Flyer ID, and commercial work near people commonly also needs an A2 Certificate of Competency or a Specific category authorisation. Most FLYTHRU plans avoid drones entirely.

Any drone flight also needs the landowner's permission for take-off and landing, which for a golf course is the club. Many English courses sit close to airports and airfields, where flight restriction zones apply.

Clubs should check the current CAA rules before agreeing to any drone filming, as requirements are updated from time to time. On most FLYTHRU plans the issue does not arise, because the fly-through is built from 3D Tiles.

How do clubs in England use fly-throughs to sell memberships and tee times?

English clubs put the fly-through right beside the tee-booking link, so a golfer can watch the course and book straight away. FLYTHRU links with BRS Golf and intelligentgolf, taking golfers through to the tee sheet. Membership secretaries use the full tour to show prospective members the course before a joining visit.

The Caddie, a chatbot on the club website, answers visitor questions while they browse. A monthly results email shows how many times the course flew and which holes got the most views.

Clubhouse mode turns the tour into a 16:9 auto-cycling loop for the screen in the bar or foyer, and the tee plaque QR programme puts a QR plaque on each tee so golfers can scan and watch that hole fly.

Is FLYTHRU right for proprietary clubs and pay-and-play courses in England?

Yes. Proprietary clubs, resorts and pay-and-play venues in England sit on the Commercial track, starting with the Club plan. Club + Web Takeover adds an animated homepage hero, so the course is the first thing a visitor sees. For venues that rely on green fees, a clear tour beside the booking link supports every visit.

Venues hosting tournaments or wanting footage captured on site can choose Championship, which includes drone capture at the course and quarterly re-flights, priced on application.

Can a fly-through help English clubs attract society and county golf days?

It can. Golf society organisers and county groups in England choose venues for their members, often from a shortlist. Sending a link to a hole-by-hole tour lets the organiser show the course to the group, answer the question of difficulty, and move to booking without arranging a reconnaissance round first.
